IDEX Biometrics has teamed up with Chutian Dragon to develop dual-facing biometric cards.
The biometric card will be implemented into a number of verticals including payments and ID. A demonstration of the card will be held at the TrustTech trade show later in the month.
Chutian Dragon manufactures, deploys and services smart cards for a range of different industries. Its cards include telecom SIM, VISA and MasterCard smart, UnionPay, social security ID, bus travel, magnetic stripe, and contactless IC, among others.
Chutian Dragon CEO Susan Su said, “We’re very proud to be bringing the next generation of smart cards to the market. People have become accustomed to biometrics in their daily lives through smart phones, and the value proposition is equally strong, if not stronger, for smart cards.
“The IDEX fingerprint technology ensures a great user experience matched with high security, and we expect strong demand across the payment, ID and other verticals.”
IDEX develops fingerprint identification and authentication solutions for card, mobile and IoT payment solutions.
IDEX recently formed a partnership with China-based card company Hengbao to introduce biometric smart cards in South East Asia. Hengbao will introduce contact based biometric smart cards across the Asian market, with future plans to trial dual-interface cards.
Earlier in the week, a report from New York researchers recently uncovered that chine learning technology could be used to create fake fingerprints which can fool systems.
