Three US government agencies have issued a joint cybersecurity advisory on Russia as anxieties around a potential invasion of Ukraine by the latter mount.
The advisory was submitted by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the FBI and the National Security Agency.
According to Security Week, the advisory provides terrorist tactics, techniques, and procedures, detection actions, incident response guidance and mitigations for both IT and OT asset owners.
The advisory notes that the older and more recent vulnerabilities exploited by Russian threat actors as well as a range of their high-profile operations. Such attacks include data theft from government organisations and aviation networks and operations aimed at industrial control systems.
In addition, the advisory reminded its readers that the US State Department is providing rewards of up to $10m for information on state-sponsored hackers who have launched various attacks on critical infrastructure.
The advisory states, “CISA, the FBI, and NSA encourage the cybersecurity community—especially critical infrastructure network defenders—to adopt a heightened state of awareness and to conduct proactive threat hunting.”
In July last year, US White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki warned the Russian government that the US will take action against cybercriminal groups if the Russian government fails to do so.
