The coronavirus pandemic has helped companies grow cybersecurity teams and has positively impacted the careers of women, a new report from Tessian claims.
In its latest survey, the company found that 94% of cybersecurity teams have hired new staff members in 2020.
The report also states that 89% of women working in cybersecurity feel secure in their jobs. Furthermore, 49% said the pandemic has positively affected their career.
Another encouraging finding is that the perception of a gender bias is slowly coming down. While it is still high at 53%, it has come down from 66% the previous year.
In 2020, 42% of women working in the space believed a big deterrent for new entrants was it not being considered “cool” or “exciting.” However, 76% of those aged between 18 and 25 said the sector was interesting and 88% stated it was important.
That being said, just 31% of those classes as Gen Z would consider a job in the field.
