Identity verification start-up Onfido has teamed-up with mobility-as-a-service platform Drover to power its ID verification processes.
Under the partnership, Onfido will provide the ID verification services for the insurance requirement of Drover’s car subscriptions. Drover is expected to be able to on-board more users following the partnership, the company said in a statement.
Onfido enables consumers to verify their identity by simply taking and uploading a picture of an identity documents and a short video selfie. Its AI platform’s technology automates checks on 4,500 document types across 195 countries, detecting anomalies without the need of human interaction.
Drover provides a subscription service for the leasing of new and used cars. Subscriptions include the selected vehicle as well as comprehensive insurance, servicing, maintenance, MOT and road tax. The company was founded in 2015 and initially began as providing their service to Uber drivers, before embarking on a wider consumer launch last year.
Onfido CEO Husayn Kassai said, “We’re proud to be supporting Drover as they scale. Balancing security against a smooth user experience is a challenge for many businesses, but our AI technology means we’re able to help Drover deliver both. Reducing risk and building trust is core to both of our businesses, so the partnership is a natural fit.”
Earlier this year, Onfido raised $50m in it’s latest funding round led by Softbank Investment and Salesforce Ventures.
Last year, the company was hand-selected for the RegTech 100, making the list for two consecutive years.
