Critical Informatics, a cybersecurity provider of managed detection and response (MDR) services, has raised an additional $2m of financing.
The round was led by East Seattle Partners with participation from BlackRock managing director Bryan White and Cigna-Healthspring founder Herbert Fritch. It completes the extension of the company’s original Series A, which was raised in March 2017, bringing its total funding to $6.35m.
CEO Garrett Silver said the company plans to use the capital to continue to scale its MDR for large organisations. The funds will also be used to accelerate Critical Informatics’ product development in a variety of areas, including: improved integrations with cloud services and customer-facing dashboards for both their core MDR service and Continuous Vulnerability Investigation.
Fritch said, “healthcare organisations are rich targets for cyber criminals, and the extreme shortage of security talent contributes to an already significant challenge. By fusing machine with human intelligence, Critical Informatics provides both the technology and security analyst talent to encompass a complete Managed Detection and Response solution.”
The company claims to help customers protect networks and secure data in a rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape. It provides Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services, which combines a dedicated team of engaged experts with next-generation technologies to provide real-time threat detection, investigation, and response. It also provides Continuous Vulnerability Identification (CVI), which explores a network, identifying open ports, software/service versions, and missing patches.
Critical Informatics provides its services to a wide variety of industries, with specialised expertise in healthcare, financial services, and the public sector. Its managed cybersecurity services and consulting targets three basic goals: data security and privacy, continuity of operations, and regulatory compliance.
“Over the past year of growth and customer feedback, we have learned how important it is to provide our customers insight into traffic on, as well as, threats to their network,” said founder Michael Hamilton. “Our dashboards provide quick access to this information and make it much easier for leaders to make informed decisions and measure IT Security related KPIs.”
