Cybersecurity company WISeKey International has formed a partnership with OpSec Security to combine their technologies into a single global platform.
WISeKey offers digital identity ecosytems for IoT and blockchain devices. The Switzerland-based company supplies financial institutions with tools for secure authentication of users on their systems, and databases, as well as to encrypt messaging. The process uses cryptographic tags to provide security for these items.
Through the deal, OpSec’s authentication software will be integrated into the WISeKey PKI and IoT platform. The combined solution will integrate with the authentication process for the cryptographic tags. When tagged by an NFC enabled phone, users will be able to securely authenticate, track and confirm the identity of the product on the blockchain ledger.
OpSec is hoping to help clients increase their cybersecurity defences and create new, unique consumer engagement opportunities with NFC microchip technology and PKI.
WISeKey founder and CEO Carlos Moreira said, “The strategic cooperation between OpSec Security and WISeKey offers a comprehensive platform with full range of anti-counterfeiting and IoT technologies and solutions that enable consumers and retailers to verify the authenticity of products before purchase. Therefore, it is critical to continuously ensure consumer confidence and increase the perception of trust.”
OpSec has built an end-to-end solution to help combat counterfeits for brands, transaction cards and government documents and currency. Its solutions monitor thousands of companies and implements its authentication technology to validate various products.
Later in the year, the company is planning on holding a security token offering for its WISeCoin, a special purpose vehicle for secure intra-object interactions is. One of WISeCoin’s aims is to create a blockchain of identity which strores objects and people’s identities. This will offer connected objects the ability to digitally identify, authenticate and verify through certificates.
