SugarCRM, a customer relationship management (CRM) solution, has bolstered its cloud and product portfolio to enable its customers to implement best practices for data privacy.
As a result of the new feature, organisations can confidently deploy SugarCRM products as a key part of their GDPR compliance plans and be better prepared for future data privacy-related regulations.
“Personal privacy must be treated as a basic human right. Although technology creates incredible value, it is encroaching on this right,” said Rich Green, chief technology officer at SugarCRM.
“Trust, security and data privacy have always been core values for SugarCRM, and now GDPR has pushed these concepts into clearer focus. The latest release of our products and services will help Sugar customers to meet compliance requirements and build trust with their customer base. GDPR is simply the most current and newsworthy issue related to data privacy. It’s likely that more regulation and legislation will be enacted in various countries.”
Based in Silicon Valley, SugarCRM enables businesses to create ‘extraordinary customer relationships’ with its customer relationship management (CRM) solution. The companies solutions are used in financial services, wealth management, insurance, credit unions, commercial banking, and business services.
The new features mean that Sugar now includes a module to address and log all customer requests related to data privacy, which provides a ‘command center’ for data privacy. SugarCRM can also now review requests and mark records for erasure.
It has also introduced a Personal Information Log (PI Log) feature that captures the sources of customer data input and modifications. It also enables its users to ‘flag’ anyone who requests that their personal data is not used in profiling or automated business processes.
With data privacy regulations dictating that businesses should only process relevant personal data, meaning all other personal data may be inappropriate, Sugar enables admins to remove unneeded fields via its console for admins.
Customers and prospects can also now request that any personal data not relevant to doing business to be removed from all system. If the customer withdraws consent, Sugar records the request within the data privacy management module.
