CyberTech company Stairwell is reportedly launching a new threat hunting platform, following the close of its Series A round.
Sequoia Capital and Accel served as the lead investors, according to a report from TechCrunch.
With the round closed, Stairwell is set to launch its new threat hunting platform that will help clients know if they have been compromised in the present or past. Inception claims to be unlike other solutions in the fact it has an “inside out” approach, meaning it begins by looking at internal company data.
Stairwell’s CEO Mike Wiacek explained that this ensures companies know what is in their environment before looking at the outside influence. Inception treats all company data with zero-trust, pre-preserving them as evidence to uncover compromises and future threats.
Another step to bolster protection is through the defences it builds. It claims the technology will create and refine a business’ defence. Due to this, attackers will not know what look like and with the support of the perpetual storage of pre-preserved evidence, the attack will not be able to hide their tracks.
Wiacek told TechCrunch, “If you go and buy a threat intelligence feed from Vendor X, do you really think that someone who’s spending hundreds of thousands, or even millions of dollars to conduct an offensive campaign isn’t going to make sure that whatever they’re using isn’t in that field?
“They know what McAfee knows and they know other antivirus engines know, but they don’t know what you know and that’s a very powerful advantage that you have there.”
Stairwell previously raised $4.5m in a seed round in November 2020, with Accel serving as the lead backer.
