Square seeks talent ahead of potential European expansion

US payments processor and card reader Square is inching further into the European market with a series of three job openings highlighting the company’s expansion plans.

Appearing on job site Indeed.com, the company is recruiting a compliance analyst and communications manager in London, as well as a technical customer support representative in Dublin.

It was reported that the company had begun to beta test its payments system in London as preparation for a UK launch. The firm has also incorporated a business called Squareup Europe in the UK.

Square’s service is currently available in the US, Canada, Japan and Australia.

It would compete with Sweden’s iZettle and SumUp in London in the European market.

The job postings come on the back of a strong second quarter for the firm that saw it beat Wall Street’s expectations to report a 41% year-on-year jump in revenue.
