Riverside backs sensitive data security provider Spirion

The Riverside Company has backed Spirion, a St. Petersburg, Florida-based provider of IT security and data privacy software.

Spirion provides enterprise data management software to help businesses reduce their sensitive data footprint and proactively minimise the risks, costs and reputational damage of successful cyberattacks.

The company helps organisations avoid costly data breaches by discovering, classifying, monitoring and protecting personal information, medical records, credit card numbers, and intellectual property stored across the enterprise, within e-mail, and in the cloud. Its customers include leading firms in the healthcare, public sector, retail, education, financial services, energy, industrial, and entertainment markets.

“IT security is an ever-growing concern for any company,” said Riverside managing partner Loren Schlachet. “A single event can cost untold millions and permanently damage a company’s reputation, so an outstanding product like Spirion’s is compelling. Spirion has a proven track record of protecting sensitive data, meeting compliance needs helping companies avoid costly fines and data loss – all while protecting their customers’ information.”

As requirements for data protection compliance strengthens, most and Data Governance solutions were designed to patch holes in compliance requirements becoming increasingly expensive and difficult to support.

In response, Spirion’s Data Platform claims to provide ‘an extensible solution’ that supports audit and compliance teams in their efforts. The solution helps meet regulatory compliance requirements with low total cost of ownership (TCO). With GDPR requiring owners and processors of EU personal data to protect all personal data collected, Spirion provides a solution to help organisations discover, classify and monitor any data file-so they can respond in order to meet the compliance requirements transparently.

Spirion also helps enterprises comply with PCI DSS 3.0 compliance requirements 3 and 4 that call for the privacy protection of cardholder information. Its solution secures cardholder data in databases, fileshares, sharepoints, endpoints and all file types including structured and unstructured data or patternistic and non-patternistic data.

Spirion’s platform also assists users with State Data Breach Notification Laws, National Data Protection and Privacy Laws, NCUA Regulatory Compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley and GLBA, and HIPAA HITECH.
