Onfido, a digital identity solution provider, has partnered with Civic Wallet to support its user onboarding needs.
Civic Wallet, which is currently available for pre-registration, is a digital wallet which stores both the cryptos and personal data. Users can store, send and receive cryptocurrency, with private key’s safely stored on the user’s mobile device and a backup system in place ready in case a device is lost or stolen.
Onfido will help the company to verify the identities of people signing up to Civic Wallet. A user simply takes a photo of their government-issued identity document and a short video of themselves. Its Ai technology will then determine whether the images are fraudulent or legitimate.
Vinny Lingham Civic CEO and co-founder said, “We chose to partner with Onfido because they share our vision of providing everyone with a digital identity they may own and control.
“As our earliest identity.com validator, we saw firsthand how their AI verification technology delivered higher pass rates without compromising on fraud protection. Growing this partnership was the best match for us and for Civic Wallet.”
Onfido has been on a bit of a partnership spree this year. The company recently signed a deal with mobility-as-a-service platform Drover to support its ID verification processes.
Some of the other companies to partner with Onfido is INTERPOL, IDValidation, and 2nd Address.
Onfido also closed an investment round earlier in the year, netting $50m from investors including SoftBank, and Salesforce Ventures.
