Oak HC/FT secures $600m for new FinTech and health fund

Oak HC/FT has closed its second fund with $600m to invest in healthcare and FinTech as well as areas where the two industries overlap.

The fund highlights modernising payment systems, insurance frameworks and reducing financial fraud, waste and abuse as key areas of focus for investment.

It aims to place bets across the US as well as Europe to find the most-promising opportunities.

This month the firm participated in on-demand insurance platform Trov’s $45m Series D round, having previously led its $25.5m Series C.

Oak HC/FT’s other notable FinTech investments include Insureon, anti-fraud startup Feedzai and payments companies Poynt, Urjanet and FastPay.

The firm is also adding three new people to its FinTech support team Anil Aggarwal, Jonathan Weiner, and Michael Heller.

The fund closed it previous healthcare and FinTech fund with $500m in June 2014.
