Cybersecurity company Nixu working to launch a new digital authentication solution to support a national digital identity service in Finland.
Nixu is developing the solution in partnership with Suomen Tilaajavastuu and Digital Living International under the group called the Sandbox of Trust.
This new service will support the public and private sector in Finland, with a goal of easing daily lives of people as everything become digital. It is also hoping to help boost Finland’s competitiveness in the international market.
According to the Finnish Ministry of Finance, current identification methods a huge impact o annual expenses for the state.
To help combat this, the Sandbox of Trust has designed a mobile authentication app which is available to everyone. Through the service, citizens and foreigners can easily login to digital services with strong authentication measures.
The app, SisuID, will be implemented by the end of 2019. Costs for the community model will be based through a membership fee, as opposed to a transaction fee.
The solution will be able to remove the need of passwords, as well as loyalty cards and permits, the company said.
Nixu head of digital business Joonatan Henriksson said, “The Sandbox of Trust initiative creates the SisuID solution quickly with the help of pilot projects. Actors from both the private and public sectors are already involved in testing their requirements for the new authentication application. We will still bring along a few actors who want to grow their own digital competitiveness quickly with a more user-friendly authentication.”
