NightVision’s fresh $5.4m injection to fortify app security testing

NightVision, a startup entrenched in the application security testing industry, announced on Monday that it has successfully raised $5.4m in seed funding.

According to Security Week, the fresh capital influx comes from a cadre of angel investors eager to back innovative cybersecurity solutions.

Founded in 2022, the US-based company operates within the dynamic application security testing (DAST) sector. NightVision is poised to transform how companies and developers detect and rectify software security vulnerabilities at an early stage in the development lifecycle.

The company’s technology is designed to simulate attacks on APIs and web applications to identify exploitable defects before they are deployed in production environments. This proactive approach is integrated seamlessly into standard development workflows and CI/CD pipelines, highlighting NightVision’s commitment to enhancing software integrity through innovation.

NightVision intends to use the $5.4m funding to expand its technological capabilities and accelerate product development. The investment will enable broader implementation of its security solutions across public and private networks and further innovation in detecting undocumented APIs through modern greybox crawling techniques.

Additional facets of the company’s technology include the ability for developers to scan code effortlessly, pinpoint flaws, and receive immediate feedback on vulnerable lines, ensuring a secure development process. This streamlined approach is crucial in today’s fast-paced development environments where the integration of AI-assisted solutions is becoming commonplace.

NightVision CTO and co-founder Kinnaird McQuade highlighted the urgency for advancements in the industry, stating, “In recent years, there’s been an explosion of custom applications, APIs, and microservices – but the application security testing industry has been unable to keep up with the rapid pace of development. Especially now that developers are building faster with AI-assisted solutions, this has to change, now more than ever.”

This seed funding round marks NightVision’s first significant financial endorsement from the investment community, setting the stage for its next phase of growth in the cybersecurity landscape.
