NEXT Biometrics is collaborating with Digitsecure India to create biometric-enabled products.
By working together, they will create new products based on NEXT’s large-area fingerprint sensor technology. No details are being released yet on what these projects may be.
Digitsecure is a digital identity and payments processing company, with offerings including EMV, biometrics, card payments, e-KYC, and electronic signatures, among others.
NEXT CEO Ritu Favre said, “The agreement that has been reached between our two companies will expand the use of biometrics for critical business applications in India and is further evidence of NEXT’s growing presence in the country. We look forward to joining with Digitsecure to support their market growth objectives.”
Oslo-headquartered Next Biometrics is a fingerprint sensor solution which designs a variety of ID scanners for the smart card, government ID, access control and notebook markets.
Last month, NEXT Biometrics formed a partnership with MK Group to establish an R&D scheme for biometric cards. The program aims to integrate NEXT’s biometrics fingerprint scanners with MK’s smart card solutions in order to support banking and similar applications.
Earlier this year, the company was also selected for three new smart card pilot projects as part of its cooperation with Tactilis.
In a recent study from researchers at New York University, it found that machine learning technology could be used to create fake fingerprints which could fool both humans and systems. However, the report states this is targeted to fingerprint scanners which are small and only need partial prints for access.
