Konsentus, a newly founded RegTech company, has expanded its team with the hire of Nick Caplan, chairman of UK Faster Payments.
The company launched just a few months ago to provide consent and preference management facilitation to financial institutions enabling them to deliver PSD2 open banking.
Along with acting as chairman for Faster Payments, Caplan is also the non-executive director of Vitality Health and Life and Covea Insurance. He also holds the position of director at Abacus, a VC backed media software company; chairman of FlyNowPayLater and CEO of NBV, a business accelerator that works alongside private equity and family funds to drive high growth companies.
He will join Konsentus both as an investor and active advisor to the business according to statement from the company.
Mike Woods, CEO of Konsentus said: “We are delighted to have Nick join us as we continue on a fast growth trajectory to be world’s leading SaaS service provider for PSD2 open banking. In addition, with nearly all prepaid cards falling under PSD2 open banking, signing one of Europe’s leading programme managers is great confirmation of our proposition”.
The RegTech has also added Tuxedo Money Solutions, a leading FinTech and Payment Solutions provider to its client roster. With a broad range of prepaid and payment solutions for some of the world’s most respected companies, Tuxedo provides white label travel, banking and general spend prepaid products for consumer-focused brands, and a wide range of business payment solutions offering convenience and control.
Earlier this year, three payment industry veterans launched Konsentus to enable financial institutions to meet PSD2 open banking requirements. The company claims to be the first API based permission and consent management solution to address the regulation.
Prior to founding the UK-headquartered company, Woods was previously e-commerce executive at Natwest Bank, founder and CEO of Aconite Technology and CEO of Digital Payments at Proxama.
He founded Konsentus alongside Brendan Jones, previously product development director at MBNA and sales & marketing director G&D, and David Parker, the CEO of payment consultant Polymath Consulting.
Caplan added, “Konsentus is a new company created to address the requirements brought about by PSD2 open banking; the opportunity is huge with 9,000+ FIs in Europe looking for a solution. I am really excited to be joining the team and investing in what promises to be a fast growth area.”
