Jumio adds FaceTec’s authentication to its ID verification suite

RegTech100 company Jumio has added FaceTec`s ZoOm 3D Face Liveness Detection to its online identity verification suite.

The company said ZoOm’s capabilities improve the security, speed and user experience for liveness detection of new users. It will provide an additional layer of assurance and fraud prevention for digital businesses during the account creation process.

Jumio offers liveness detection as part of Netverify Identity Verification for both mobile and desktop users. The RegTech said it has adopted and integrated FaceTec ZoOm 3D Face Liveness Detection to better thwart fraudsters.

The move is in response the increasingly using spoofing attacks to acquire someone else’s privileges or access rights. It does this by using a photo, video or a different substitute for an authorized person’s face.

“In our tests, ZoOm quickly distinguished itself as the segment leader,” said Philipp Pointner, Chief Product Officer of Jumio. “The interface is intuitive and the liveness detection AI is by far the strongest we have ever seen.”

ZoOm recently became the first face biometric authentication software to achieve a Level 1 rating in the iBeta Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) certification test, which determines the real-world effectiveness of anti-spoofing technology in compliance with the ISO 30107-3 global standard.

“In addition to its anti-spoofing detection capabilities, FaceTec’s liveness detection offers some very tangible benefits in terms of a more streamlined user experience and omnichannel support,” said Stephen Stuut, CEO of Jumio. “ZoOm-enhanced liveness detection will be integrated within the Netverify solution at no additional charge to our existing customers.

“This integration improves the quality of Jumio’s identity verification process which, in turn, provides a better onboarding experience and dramatically reduces the number of manual reviews performed by our business customers.”

Based in Palo Alto, with offices in the US and Europe, Jumio’s solutions are used by companies in the financial services, sharing economy, higher education, retail, travel and online gaming sectors. Having verified over 50 million identities, Jumio adopts ‘three core pillars’ for customer verification: ID Verification, Identity Verification and Document Verification. Leveraging advanced technology like biometric facial recognition and machine learning, Jumio helps customers to meet regulatory compliance including KYC and AML and tie the digital identity to the physical world.

Last year, Jumio was hand-picked by a panel of industry experts for the RegTech 100, a list of companies that every financial institution should know about in 2018. The RegTech 100 is part of the Global RegTech review – an essential, in-depth analysis of the global RegTech market.

The RegTech also recently partnered with Monzo to verify new users and support Know-Your-Customer (KYC) requirements. The digital challenger bank said it will use Jumio’s Netverify Trusted Identity as a Service (TIaaS) to help verify customers who are moving from its prepaid card service to a full current account.
