Technology developer HP has acquired end-point security startup Bromium for an undisclosed amount.
Bromium protects businesses by leveraging virtualization-based security to isolated browser-based attacks, malicious downloads, email attachments, and other applications. The security platform allows threats to fully exercise inside a secure container and collect information for a full kill-chain analysis.
Its security technology will enhance HP’s existing platform by providing hardware enforced application isolation and containment to protect against advanced attacks supported by real-time threat intelligence.
HP GM and global head of commercial systems Andy Rhodes said, “Security is a key competitive differentiator for HP, providing the most secure PCs and printers on the market.
“The acquisition of Bromium extends our investments, leadership and focus in this space and securing end point devices that are on the front lines of defence against cyber security attacks.”
Currently, HP licences the Bromium technology and leverages it for its Sure Click solution. Bromium will become part of HP’s broader platform to secure end-point devices.
