In an increasingly digitised landscape, the InsurTech sector has leaned more on burgeoning technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity. However, amidst this rapid technological advancement, the significance of robust cybersecurity measures cannot be overstated. But how can you improve your company’s cybersecurity measures?
As part of the FinTech Global Academy’s Professional InsurTech Certificate, a host of industry experts weighed in on the debate.
Amongst those, Phillip Hurni, a Computer Science Tutor at Kantonsschule Sursee, shared his perspective that many firms lack a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity practices.
He explained, “I think even today many people think that cybersecurity is all about technology, but it’s about much more than that. It revolves around processes and different people.
“I think the most underestimated factor in terms of having a strong cybersecurity system is having a tech-savvy and cyber-educated workforce. You have to consider that many of today’s attacks start with people just being lured into clicking a link.
“The other very important topic is privileged access and the protection of privileged accounts. This is where we see that most companies are weaker in terms of cybersecurity. Technology can definitely have an impact here – but it’s still all about the processes,” he continued.
