ForgePoint Capital is the most active sector-focused cybersecurity investor in 220, having deployed over $100m into companies.

The firm, which backs the clam with PitchBook data, has led investments totalling $75m in new companies, hired three investment professionals and deployed $37.8m in follow-on funding rounds.

Its fresh investments this year include a commitment to the $18m Series A round of Huntress Labs. The company offers an advanced managed detection and response platform that protects nearly half a million endpoints.

Other investments include pre-emptive email security company Area 1, identity aware authorisation software for cloud platforms Cloudentity, cloud governance automation service Concourse Labs and security operations centre-as-a-service provider Cysiv.

The firm has also made a number of follow-on investments to existing portfolio companies to help their growth.

These investments include identity intelligence and attribution analysis company 4IQ, cloud-delivered security and compliance software Anitian, automated security and privacy testing app NowSecure, privileged access management service Remediant, threat intelligence and analysis solution Reversing Labs and scalable security analytics business Uptycs.

ForgePoint Capital co-founder and managing director Alberto Yépez said, “We’ve strengthened our portfolio by investing in five new companies and grown our diverse team of company builders.

“As we look ahead, we remain focused on fuelling the growth of new, transformational market leaders and backing remarkable entrepreneurs in cybersecurity.”

The firm closed the sophomore fund on $450m in February to help it back more businesses operating within cyber intelligence, privacy, security services and infrastructure protection.
