Device security firm Forescout snaps up CyberMDX

Forescout Technologies, a device security company, has acquired healthcare cybersecurity business CyberMDX for an undisclosed fee.

According to Security Week, CyberMDX offers a solution that helps healthcare firms continuously discover connected medical devices, visualise network flow, manage assets and obtain risk assessment and security reports.

Forescout remarked that the acquisition will strengthen its out-of-the-box support for connected device types across IoT, operational technology and internet of medical things devices.

Back in December 2020, CyberMDX said more than 100 medical devices made by GE Healthcare were affected by a potentially serious vulnerability that could allow an attacker to access or modify protected health information.

Forescout previously acquired SecurityMatters – an operational technology network security firm – in 2018 for around $113m. The company was taken private by Advent International in 2020 for $1.4bn.
