Vigilant Ops, an emerging leader in the automation of Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), has secured a $2 million seed investment from DataTribe.
DataTribe, known for its global influence in co-building and investing in cutting-edge cybersecurity and data science startups, has recognized Vigilant Ops for its innovative approach in the cybersecurity domain.
The funding round marks a significant milestone for Vigilant Ops. The company, which recently won the prestigious 6th annual DataTribe Challenge in November, specializes in continuous vulnerability monitoring and alerting. It also offers security patch notifications and facilitates the uploading of SBOMs from various sources. SBOMs are crucial lists that detail the software libraries embedded within products, a vital component in today’s software-reliant world.
Vigilant Ops stands out in the cybersecurity landscape for automating the production of SBOMs. This automation serves as a reliable system for software buyers, helping them manage SBOMs and enhance resilience by identifying and mitigating component vulnerabilities. This capability has become increasingly vital in light of recent government policies emphasizing software security.
The investment from DataTribe will be instrumental in expanding Vigilant Ops’ InSight platform across multiple critical infrastructure industries. Having primarily focused on the healthcare sector, Vigilant Ops aims to broaden its reach to include energy, telecom, manufacturing, IT, financial services, and communications industries. This expansion is aligned with growing legislative and regulatory requirements for comprehensive software component inventories.
Joining the Vigilant Ops Board is Leo Scott, CTO of DataTribe, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. Vigilant Ops CEO Ken Zalevsky expressed optimism about the partnership, noting, “The DataTribe funding, coupled with its foundry model, will enable us to quickly scale our technology and business development operations to meet the software cybersecurity challenges that threaten our national and economic security.” He further emphasized the importance of securing products that support critical infrastructure, highlighting the potential for innovation and new technology services.
Vigilant Ops’ latest InSight Platform release includes features such as automated import of various SBOM formats and a vulnerability dispositioning process that aligns with industry standards. These enhancements underscore the company’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity solutions in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
