Developer-focused security platform Ubiq Security has closed its seed round on $6.4m, as it looks to increase customer acquisition.
The round was led by Okapi Venture Capital, with support also coming from TenOneTen Ventures, Cove Fund, DLA Piper Venture, Volta Global and Alexandria Venture Investments.
Capital from the round will be used to accelerate platform development, increase customer acquisition and improve developer relations.
Based in San Diego, the RegTech has designed an API-based platform that simplifies encryption and key management. Through this, security teams and easily integrate data encryption into their applications, with only entering a few lines of code.
Teams can encrypt a range of data across diverse applications and programming languages, cloud environments and storage types.
In bid to further simplifying the security, the platform’s dashboard lets security teams select from best-practice encryption models and policies.
Ubiq Security CEO Wias Issa said, “The software that powers today’s global economy is built by some of the brightest developers in the world, whose expertise revolves around building fantastic products and experiences – and generally not security and cryptography.
“This creates a massive problem for CTO’s, CISOs, and compliance leaders, who face costly, unscalable uphill battles to ensure the data in their products is secure. Ubiq upends that notion by making industry-vetted encryption part of every developer’s toolkit, even if they have no prior knowledge of cryptography, and enables adoption of DevSecOps practices, which work to unite the security and engineering teams.”
