CaixaBank and 11 international entities have formed a European research consortium to explore ways to improve cybersecurity by using AI and big data.
According to IBS Intelligence, AI4CYBER is part of the Horizon Europe programme and is funded by the EU.
Over the next three years, CaixaBank will team up with Tecnaila, the University of Western Macedonia, Thales, Public Power Corporation, ITTI, Frontedart, Montimage, Hospital do Espírito Santo de Évora, Search-Lab, PDMFC and the European Organisation for Security to study on the project.
IBS noted that the consortium’s key objective is to design new cybersecurity services to understand, detect, and analyse cyberattacks, as well as prepare critical systems to withstand them.
CaixaBank’s role in the project will be to test the solutions in a real-life environment of a financial institution. This will enable the researchers to examine the benefits of the new solutions and improve models for detecting anomalies in behavioural patterns.
CaixaBank has said that cybersecurity is a priority for the company, having rolled out a cybersecurity ecosystem with specialist teams and advanced technology infrastructure to protect digital transactions from security threats.
In August last year, CaixaBank launched its Climate Risk Unit as part of its Sustainability Directorate, which has seen it bolster its commitment to sustainability.
This new unit will coordinate the deployment of climate and environmental risk management and analysis pursuant to the growing regulatory framework, the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the guidelines of the European Commission on non-financial reporting.
