Norway-headquartered Zwipe has launched a new European tech hub in Germany and hired Dr. Robert Mueller as its new chief technology officer.
The biometric technology developer has established the new tech hub in Germany to support its existing research and development centre in the US. Based in Munich, the new office will look to further the company’s work around biometrics, algorithms, payment card integration, enrolment solutions and product management.
In conjunction with the opening of this office, Zwipe has hired former Next Biometrics chief technology officer Robert Mueller as its new CTO. In this position, he will lead the RegTech’s technical vision and development to ensure commercialisation and long-term success, the company said.
Mueller has more than 20 years of experience in senior technical development positions focusing on biometrics and smart card technology for companies like Siemens, Giesecke+Devrient and BMW.
Zwipe CEO André Løvestam said, “Robert brings a wealth of experience and knowledge and will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of our technology platform to our expanding global customer base.”
The RegTech company recently partnered with TAG Systems Group to build a commercial biometric payment card, which offers an at-home enrolment solution to ease the setup.
Earlier in the year, Zwipe secured $14m in a funding round, closing ahead of its planed release of trading on Merkur Market, Oslo Børs. This investment came from unnamed institutional and professional investors as well as a number of members of public in Norway and Sweden.
