Security education platform Curricula receives new investment

Cybersecurity education platform Curricula has raised $3m in a growth investment from RCP Equity which will help increase its sales and marketing efforts.

The company was founded in 2015 with the goal of driving security awareness of employees in businesses. Since it was launched it has tripled customer acquisition year-over-year.

Capital from the round is earmarked for expanding the sales and marketing strategy, boosting platform capabilities and starting the move into the MSP channels.

RCP Equity partner Kevin Hatch said, “The real beauty of Curricula is it’s personal and easy. Once employers, organizations, and channel partners see just how different Curricula is from the typical boring security awareness training stereotype, we know they’ll join the Curricula family. We are so excited to be a part of their future growth.”

As part of the deal, Hatch will join the Curricula board of directors.

Curricula is a character-driven security awareness platform which connects employees with heroes, villains and memorable security stories. To help train employees in handling and tackle online security threats, Curricula deploys DeeDee, an AI-simulated hacker. The bot sends simulated phishing tests to employees, training how they would defend against a real attack.

“We chose RCP because they support Curricula’s mission of putting employees first by creating a remarkable learning experience,” says Nick Santora, CEO at Curricula. “We are making an immediate impact in our customer’s security culture and it’s clearly resonating across an industry in desperate need of change.”

Late last year, fellow cybersecurity education platform Immersive Labs netted $40m in its Series B round. The startup helps train employees around online threats and simulated attacks.
