Attila Security, a Fulton, Maryland-based cybersecurity company, has raised $2.5m in seed funding.
The round was led by DataTribe with participation from Bull City Venture Partners and TEDCO’s Seed Fund. Attila Security will use the capital to expand sales and marketing, continue product development and finalise NIAP Certification for its GoSilent product suite.
Attila Security provides visibility, control and threat defense across physical, virtual, and cloud applications. Its GoSilent technology was designed to protect governments and enterprises from advanced cyber-attacks, zero-day threats, and personal identity theft.
Frank Glover, lead director of TEDCO’s Seed Fund, said: “Attila represents a unique opportunity to back an early-stage company with sophisticated technology, large tangible market and a high-quality team at the helm. We believe Gregg Smith is the ideal leader to drive this to a big outcome for the region. We are excited to partner with the company and DataTribe to capture this opportunity.”
Built for the cloud world where traditional network perimeters have disappeared, GoSilent helps global enterprises protect their most valuable asset, their data, wherever it resides. By providing visibility, control and threat defense across physical, virtual and cloud applications, Attila protects government and enterprise from the tidal wave of breaches and cybercrime estimated to cost the global economy more than $400 billion on an annual basis.
GoSilent is an intelligent portable next-generation VPN Firewall security appliance which claims to be the first line of defense for IP endpoints. With a Linux operating system, compute power and unique size GoSilent aims to change the security paradigm.
DataTribe cofounder, Mike Janke, added: “It’s rare to see a technology that is so far ahead of current-generation security tools. Attila’s technology was borne inside the intelligence community in the ever-changing nation-state fight to protect data, communications and IoT at the edge. As a long-time investor and company builder, I have never seen a technology platform be adopted in the Fortune 1000 space as quickly and easily as Attila’s has – it’s a testament to the game-changing nature of Attila’s technology.”
DataTribe is a cybersecurity and data science startup studio that invests and co-builds next generational commercial software. It has previously backed Enveil, Dragos, Kesala, refirm labs, Prevailion and Inertial Sense.
