Equity crowdfunding firm OurCrowd has raised $72m in Series C funding.
The round’s investors are undisclosed with the company only saying they include financial institutions, family offices and private investors from five continents.
Rather than operating solely as a platform for startups to seek financing through OurCorwd sources deals, performs due diligence and takes an active stake in companies.
It says it’s invested in 100 portfolio companies and funds with more than $300m raised on its platform.
The Israeli company counts nine portfolio exits to date – two IPOs and seven acquisitions.
OurCrowd CEO Jon Medved said, “One half of the round will be invested in the expansion of our 7 global offices, and further developing our technology platform.
The other half of the Series C funding will be used to make sure that each and every company which raises funding on our platform receives participating investment from the General Partner on the same terms as the crowd.”
The company says the round is expected to close closer to $100m and that the it will help it reach its goal of investing $1bn annually by 2020.
