NEXT Biometrics has teamed up with M-Tech Innovations to develop and deploy biometric smart card solutions in India.
The collaboration will target contact-based and dual interface biometric smart card solutions to meet changing banking standards. The new cards will integrate the fingerprint sensor technology of NEXT.
M-Tech is an accredited RuPay, MasterCard and VISA card manufacturer in India, offering smart cards for banking, contactless payments, ID cards, rewritable cards, EMV solutions and loyalty cards, among others. The company also designs card readers, keypads, time attendance and control systems.
M-Tech Innovations Chairman and managing director Vijay Gandhi said, “NEXT`s flexible sensor technology offers proven high security and accuracy levels. This is particularly important for the high standards demanded in the payment sector and paramount for a secure and consistently positive user experience.
“The partnership with NEXT underlines our commitment to highest quality standards and continuous innovation.”
NEXT Biometrics offers fingerprint scanning technology which can be integrated into cards and provide an added level of security to users.
Late last year, the company formed a partnership with Digitsecure to build biometric-enabled products. While it is unclear what these products will be, Digisecure offers digital identity and payment services, including biometrics, card payments, e-KYC and electronic signatures.
Next Biometrics also recently formed an agreement with MK Group to launch an R&D scheme for biometric smart cards. The program will integrate NEXT’s biometrics fingerprint scanners with MK’s smart card solutions in order to support banking and similar applications.
