NetSPI expands proactive security with strategic acquisition of Hubble

NetSPI

NetSPI has announced its acquisition of Hubble Technology, a company renowned for its CAASM and cybersecurity posture management solutions.

The integration of Hubble’s Asset Intelligence and CAASM product, Aurora, into the NetSPI Platform is set to transform how security teams manage and visualise their attack surfaces.

The acquisition, aimed at enhancing NetSPI’s existing external attack surface management (EASM) capabilities, includes the strategic addition of CAASM to provide a comprehensive asset and exposure management framework. This move not only broadens NetSPI’s service offerings but also strengthens its proactive security model, extending its reach across more complex IT environments including cloud, BYOD, and industrial controls.

NetSPI specialises in proactive security through technology-enabled services like penetration testing and vulnerability management, focusing on external and cloud asset exposures.

Hubble, on the other hand, excels in offering an agentless CAASM platform that helps organisations continuously detect new assets and security risks, thus improving their overall security postures.

This acquisition is pivotal for NetSPI as it combines EASM and CAASM under one umbrella, allowing for enhanced discovery, prioritisation, and remediation of vulnerabilities across an organisation’s entire IT asset landscape. This integration significantly propels NetSPI’s capability to accurately assess and prioritise risk, thereby aiding clients in safeguarding their most critical assets against potential threats.

Additional insights provided by industry experts from Forrester highlight the complementary nature of EASM and CAASM in crafting a robust security infrastructure that assists teams in better managing security vulnerabilities.

NetSPI CEO Aaron Shilts expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “This acquisition is one of the most notable milestones on our journey from point-in-time pentesting to technology-enabled proactive security. You can’t secure what you don’t have visibility into. We support the most trusted brands on Earth giving them visibility into external/cloud assets and exposures. With Hubble’s CAASM solution, we can provide comprehensive, 360-degree visibility while delivering telemetry and insights across the entire IT estate.”

Following the acquisition, Hubble’s founder, Tom Parker, will join NetSPI as Chief Technology Officer. Prior to this role, Tom was pivotal in driving growth and strategic mergers at Accenture Security and has been a significant figure in the cybersecurity field.

Tom Parker shared his vision for the integration, “The security industry notoriously creates siloed solutions that only address a small part of the problem. That’s not the case with NetSPI. For the first time, with the introduction of CAASM, security leaders will have a holistic end-to-end view of their security posture in a single platform.

“I am delighted to join this proactive security powerhouse as their new CTO, helping customers reduce risk, drive efficiency, and strengthen the confidence that their security platforms represent a full picture of their environment.”
