Markel, a prominent global specialty insurer operating within Markel Group Inc., has appointed a new senior underwriter to lead its cyber portfolio in the Middle East and North Africa.
The German firm has added Isaac Meek to its staff, with the recruitment the move in the company’s continued drive to secure top-tier talent.
As part of the role, Meek will be based at the company’s Dubai office, and will be reporting to Max Robbie, Senior Executive Officer at Markel Dubai.
He will also work closely with Priyesh Pradhan, professional and financial risk (PFR) senior underwriter at Markel India, and is set to ensure the provision of comprehensive insurance solutions to meet the escalating demand in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Beyond expanding the cyber portfolio, Meek will actively nurture broker relationships while identifying avenues for scalable growth within MENA, further amplifying Markel’s regional presence and service offerings.
This move aligns with the firm’s overarching strategy of driving growth across Asia, highlighting its commitment to regional expansion.
Prior to joining Markel, Meek held positions at the American Insurance Group (AIG), commencing as an Assistant Underwriter and later advancing to Underwriter in 2021. His five-year tenure at AIG encompassed underwriting risks across diverse financial lines, focusing on blended cyber and tech PI risks for customers across Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries, North Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
Markel’s cyber offering in Dubai spans comprehensive first-party and third-party coverage across a diverse array of industries and clients, including financial institutions, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, professional service firms, and industrial companies.
Max Robbie, Senior Executive Officer at Markel Dubai commented, “We are delighted to welcome Isaac to the team here at Markel Dubai. Isaac joins us at an exciting time as we continue to build out our product offerings, particularly given the speed of growth and development of cyber in the region.”
“With his wealth of experience, Isaac will help us to identify new territories and geographies to drive profitable growth for the cyber portfolio, with the support of our established cyber underwriting teams in India and Singapore. I look forward working with him so that we can continue strengthening our business in the region, offering clients tailored and bespoke products across MENA.”
