Honeywell has released a survey stating over 80% of business leaders are confident their firms will comply with sustainability disclosure requirements.
This report forms part of Honeywell’s Environmental Sustainable Index, launched in Q4 2022, and is intended to gauge business leaders’ sentiments regarding their sustainability commitments’ progress. Over 750 business, technology, and sustainability professionals were surveyed across numerous regions and sectors for this study.
The latest survey includes a new section focused on organisations’ methods for reporting on environmental and social initiatives, a timely addition given the introduction or preparation of mandatory sustainability reporting regulations worldwide. An overwhelming 93% of respondents claimed that their organisations have formal plans for reporting on progress towards sustainability goals, and 82% expressed optimism about meeting any new sustainability reporting requirements within the next year.
Honeywell’s survey also reports an increase in the proportion of companies planning to expand spending on environmental sustainability initiatives in the next year. This figure has risen to 86%, up from the previous quarter’s 83%, with planned investment increases across all environmental categories. Despite these positive intentions, respondents showed slightly less confidence in achieving their 2030 sustainability goals, with optimism declining by 3 percentage points from the previous survey.
Evan van Hook, Chief Sustainability Officer at Honeywell, said, “The latest Environmental Sustainability Index confirms that large global companies are continuing to stay on pace and invest in technology and staff to achieve their environmental sustainability goals. Sustainability is top of mind for leadership, and they are activating top-level staff to increase involvement and traction toward goals.”
