The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was first enforced in May 2018. Since then, it seems as if the European data privacy law has created a thriving industry stateside.
That is according to new research by Kantar, the data insights company, which looked into how companies advertised about GDPR-related services in the US between January and September 2019.
The researchers looked at ten search terms related to GDPR, including “what is GDPR”, “GDPR requirements” and “GDPR compliance”.
During that period, it found 283 advertisers from industries like IT companies, online security firms, software manufacturers and business consultancies, indicating that the data privacy regulation may have led to a boost in companies meeting an unfulfilled GDRP compliance need.
