Evernym has deployed its self-sovereign identity initiative to five non-profit organisations.
The initial recipients of its technology are DECODES, iRespond, The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Rohingya Project and Tykn.
Identity for Good Initiative (ID4G) is an initiative which provides non-profit organisations with access to its accelerator, which offers net technology, advanced digital identity tools, education and support for building digital ID.
The accelerator program usually costs $50,000 a year and provides access to the Evernym identity tools which can be implemented with their operations. The platform also encourages companies to work with each other and collaborate.
The Red Cross decided to join the initiative to boost IDs protection for its constituents and chose Evernym due to it not storing personally identifiable data on the blockchain.
Founded in 2013, Evernym develops digital identity software based around cryptography and blockchain. The platform helps to automatically verify anyone or business, in an independent platform
Evernym CEO Timothy Ruff said, “Our ID for Good Initiative gives NGOs that are on the frontlines of some of the world’s most pressing demands for digital identity an opportunity to participate in a technological revolution at no cost.
“We’re happy to be bringing together NGOs, governments and commercial interests alike to increase access to necessary technologies and accelerate innovation for Self-Sovereign Identity. Representation among the non-profit community is essential for diversity of thought and deployments.”
