Equifax Canada will work with SecureKey Technologies to help Canadians verify their identities with trusted service providers.
This deal will see Equifax, Canadian credit bureau and provider of fraud, identity and compliance solutions, act as the key data verifier within SecureKey’s Verified.Me digital identity network.
Users of Verified.Me will now be able to check their free credit scores through the app, while maintaining security and privacy. The company is hoping this will expand its network and give consumers better privacy and control on their data.
SecureKey is an identity and authentication provider which aims to simplify the verification of consumers online. It launched the Verified.Me in cooperation with seven Canadian financial institutions as a way of boosting online ID.
The network pets a consumer verify their identities on a smartphone and once completed, they can share personal information with a financial institution. Consumers can decide whom can access their personal data and rescind that privilege if need be.
Verified.Me is available on both Androids and Apple smart devices, and all data stored is protected by strong security protocols.
For example, a consumer can share their identification details with Equifax in order to verify their identities, create account or access services from another organisation. This removes the need of lengthy onboarding processes needing to be repeated with each financial institution.
Equifax vice-president, fraud, ID and compliance Tara Zecevic said, “Being consumer-consent driven, Verified.Me is about giving people more choice, security, control and convenience when accessing new services.

Earlier in the month, SecureKey added another five Canadian banks to its Verified.Me network, including CIBC, Desjardins, RBC, Scotiabank and TD
