Emerson, the technology and engineering company, has opened the doors of its latest cybersecurity lab in Pune, India.
The new lab will assist manufacturers to evolve with the digital revolution and incorporating new innovations within their businesses without falling foul of potential cyber risks. Professionals working within the lab will help clients protect the integrity of their plant operations, networks, systems and data.
The new Indian centre will house 900 employees. Its focus will be on defining security requirements, designing threat models and security walkthroughs. Additionally, it will develop practices to maintain security practices and simulating hack attacks in industrial environments to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
Emerson has stated that the new centre is part of the company’s commitment to supply advanced automation solutions to customers worldwide.
“Cybersecurity is frequently cited by customers as a top consideration for Industrial Internet of Things adoption,” said Lal Karsanbhai, executive president of Emerson’s Automation Solutions Business. “Emerson’s investment in a broad portfolio of technologies and services is helping global leaders accelerate their digital transformation with confidence.”
Speaking about Emerson’s clientele, Karsanbhai stated that its customers are individuals and organizations on the lookout for partners that can assist them design secure and robust digital operation ecosystem.
Karsanbhai continued, “This new centre further extends our leadership in industrial transformation and enhances our ability to collaborate with customers on the critical element of cybersecurity as they adopt the latest digital technologies to optimize performance.”
In other Indian RegTech news, the country is seemingly looking to become compliant with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). A reason for this push is that it would smooth out trade and cross-border operations between the nation and the trading block. As such, India is aligning its own data privacy laws with that of the GDPR.
