Electronic IDentification proposes remote video-identification as a solution to compliance obligations in the days of COVID-19

Identity verification is one of the most important parts of businesses onboarding new clients, but it’s also one that has become increasingly difficult because of the coronavirus.

With many governments having issued social distancing rules, it could be difficult to verify customers’ identities, especially when they are used to doing it in person.

Electronic IDentification (eID) has a potential solution: remote video-identification. The RegTech company’s one-click onboarding service empowers businesses to identify people remotely, quickly and safely complying with current electronic identification rules and legislation. Any citizen, client or user can be identified in seconds, in a simple process with the only requirement of having a device with a camera connected to the internet.

The benefits of this are multiple. Public administration bodies and governments can more easily action any processes that require verifying the identity of citizens, companies can ensure the continuity of their client relationships and establish new ones.

eID has seen its solutions operate across four continent and over 300 organisations since it first started to produce it in 2016. It has among its clients the main banks, governments, fintech, telecommunications companies and the collaborative economy.

Since its launch, eID has picked up several accolades, including being named as one of the 100 most innovative RegTech companies in the world on the coveted RegTech100 list in 2020.
