Dragos, a pioneer in cybersecurity for OT environments, has acquired Network Perception, known for its NP-View, a top network visualization tool for OT networks.
This strategic move is set to enhance the Dragos Platform by integrating exceptional OT network visibility with advanced compliance and segmentation analysis, aiming to protect critical OT infrastructures.
The acquisition comes as cyber threats to industrial networks grow more complex, making complete OT network visibility increasingly crucial. By merging NP-View’s capabilities with the Dragos Platform, organizations can now achieve a comprehensive understanding of their network connections—something previously unattainable from a single provider. This integration allows for detailed insights into real-time and potential network pathways, enhancing the ability to spot and address vulnerabilities before they are exploited.
Network Perception has earned trust across the energy, utilities, and industrial sectors by offering tools that assess, visualize, and monitor network security without disrupting operations. NP-View operates by accessing or uploading configuration files for various network devices, providing detailed network topology maps, analyzing access paths, and evaluating firewall rules. This approach simplifies the complex tasks of access risk analysis, network segmentation validation, and network design auditing.
Looking ahead, the integration of NP-View’s topology and firewall rule analysis into the Dragos Platform will enable customers to map their OT network topologies more effectively. This will assist in optimal placement of network sensors, mapping of vulnerabilities to attack paths, and evaluation of configuration and policy changes. The combined capabilities will offer a powerful dual-layer visibility into asset communications and possible communication paths, significantly strengthening defense mechanisms against potential adversary movements within OT environments.
“The acquisition of Network Perception marks a significant step towards our joint mission to secure the world’s industrial and critical infrastructure,” Dragos Inc. CEO and Co-Founder, Robert M. Lee said. “Our complementary technologies and shared expertise will now serve to provide organizations with unparalleled visibility into their OT environments. The added compliance capabilities of Network Perception will enhance our robust framework, aiding organizations in meeting regulatory standards.”
The acquisition not only reinforces Dragos’s presence in North American electric sectors but also extends Network Perception’s innovative solutions to global markets, including oil & gas and manufacturing sectors. For US Electric sector customers, NP-View will streamline compliance management with network access requirements of standards like CIP-003 and CIP-005, recognized by NERC auditors for compliance audits.
“Joining forces with Dragos allows us to combine our strengths and deliver even greater value to the OT community,” Robin Berthier, CEO and Co-Founder of Network Perception, said. “We are excited to unite our teams, which include some of the brightest minds in industrial cybersecurity, to foster innovation and help our customers navigate today’s threat landscape and regulatory environment.”
