DigiCert receives funding from pair of private equity firms

DigiCert, a developer of identity and encryption technology, has received an investment from private equity firms Clearlake Capital Group and TA Associates.

The RegTech company has built TLS/SSL, PKI solutions for identity and encryption. Its technology  can be used by businesses to improve security on email, devices, documents, and networks, among other products.

TA Associates managing director Jason Werlin said, “TA has had a front-row seat to DigiCert’s impressive rise as the industry leader in its space, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the management team to invest in and support DigiCert’s innovation and growth efforts.

“DigiCert has a unique opportunity to capitalize on new growth initiatives that we believe will help them better serve their customers and their industry.”

In 2017, Symantec sold its website security and PKI solutions to DigiCert in a deal worth $950m. Symantec also received a 30% share of the RegTech company’s common stock.
