Citi’s head of FinTech leaves bank

Head of Citigroup’s fintech division Heather Cox is leaving the bank after less than a year.

Cox, who is reportedly leaving to take up the role of chief technology and digital officer at financial services provider USAA, was named Head of Citi FinTech in October 2015.

She previously headed up card operations at Capital One.

The company’s fintech-dedicated division counts about 75 employees and focusses on developing mobile banking services at Citigroup.

Stephen Bird, head of Citigroup’s consumer bank, highlighted Cox’s efforts to make it a mobile business and increase the speed at which products are brought to market. He is also reported to have said he is extremely pleased with the work being carried out at the fintech division.

Citi FinTech is an example of how many large, incumbent banks are investing resources into developing mobile and online banking services in an attempt to embrace changes in consumer habits.
