c/side, a CyberTech specializing in the protection of browser-side third-party scripts, has secured $6 million in seed funding.
The investment round was led by Uncork Capital and saw participation from Mantis VC, Scribble Ventures, Roar Ventures, and PrimeSet, boosting c/side’s total funding to $7.7 million. This follows a pre-seed round earlier this year which also included Scribble, Roar, and strategic angel investors.
This funding comes at a crucial time for the cybersecurity industry. As incidents like the British Airways breach have highlighted, third-party code scripts on websites are often under-monitored and poorly secured. These scripts, essential for functions such as analytics and chatbots, frequently change without the businesses’ knowledge, posing severe security risks. Malicious actors exploit these vulnerabilities to redirect visitors, steal sensitive data, or alter website content. Recognizing the increasing weaponization of browser-side execution by attackers, c/side provides an essential service to combat these threats.
The company offers an advanced proxy service paired with an AI-driven detection engine, designed to identify and neutralize malicious scripts in real-time. This technology not only enhances website security but also improves website performance, making it particularly valuable for businesses that must comply with stringent regulations like PCI DSS 4.0.
Simon Wijckmans, CEO and founder of c/side, emphasized the escalating nature of browser supply chain attacks and the necessity of proactive security measures. “Even in the few short months since we launched, major browser supply chain attacks and regulatory breach incidents have underscored just how significant this attack vector has become,” he remarked.
Andy McLoughlin, Managing Partner at Uncork Capital, praised c/side’s innovative approach. “Their AI-driven solution not only identifies these threats but acts swiftly to neutralize them, ensuring robust client-side web security,” he noted.
Alex Pall, General Partner at Mantis VC, also expressed admiration for c/side’s AI-driven approach and its potential to reshape client-side security.
The seed funding will enable c/side to accelerate the development of its flagship proxy solution, enhance its vulnerability detection capabilities, and expand its team to better serve customers in sales, customer service, partnerships, and marketing functions. Previously, the company raised $1.7 million in a pre-seed round, marking its initial steps toward securing digital enterprises against emerging cyber threats.
