BNY Mellon, a leader in investment management and investment services, has appointed Gary Delaney as its new International CISO.
Delaney, with a rich background spanning two decades in cybersecurity, will be taking up his role in Dublin, contributing to the company’s esteemed reputation in innovation and security within the financial industry.
BNY Mellon stands at the forefront of the FinTech industry, providing a wide array of services including asset servicing, investment management, and wealth management. The institution operates an enterprise-level cybersecurity division within its Engineering organisation, dedicated to protecting the assets of both the company and its clients through advanced security measures and systems.
Gary Delaney, the newly appointed International CISO, will be reporting to Matthew McCormack, who leads the Information Security Division. Delaney’s career highlights include significant positions at Bank of Ireland (BOI) and Allied Irish Bank (AIB), where he held roles such as CISO and Head of Cyber Security Strategy.
His experience is further enriched by senior positions at Commonwealth Bank and National Australia Bank, showcasing a long-standing commitment to enhancing cybersecurity architectures, governance, and strategies across major financial institutions.
Delaney’s extensive experience in the cybersecurity field is complemented by his prior roles, which have prepared him to contribute significantly to BNY Mellon’s objectives of building resilient systems and innovative cybersecurity capabilities. His appointment is part of BNY Mellon’s strategic investment in technology and talent, aiming to bolster its cybersecurity framework and ensure the safety of its global financial services.
