Having already introduced its biometric identification technology in Spain, BBVA is now rolling out the service everywhere it operates.
The bank’s innovatios enable potential clients to sign up by sending a short video of themselves showing their identification. The video is then processed through the technology and verifies whether or not someone is who they say they are.
This service is already available in Spain, the US and Columbia, but will also become available in Peru, Argentina and Turkey. “Our goal is to have digital enrollment available to all users across our operating footprint by the end of 2019,” explained Gonzalo Rodríguez, global head of customer solutions at BBVA.
The bank recently made the news by partnering up with San Mateo-based FinTech startup Wise. Wise, the digital banking and growth company, and BBVA would together launch a range of products aimed at helping small businesses scale.
