Airbus Defence and Space has announced its plans to acquire INFODAS, a German company specialised in providing cybersecurity and IT solutions.

Located in Cologne, INFODAS has carved out a niche for itself, especially within the public sector, offering services that cater to defence and critical infrastructure needs. This strategic move is pending the usual regulatory approvals and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2024.

The acquisition is poised to significantly bolster Airbus’ cybersecurity portfolio, a critical component of its strategic vision aimed at enhancing the digital protection of its European and global clientele. Amidst the backdrop of escalating cyber threats and the push towards greater digitalisation and connectivity of Airbus’ products and systems, cybersecurity has emerged as a cornerstone of the company’s developmental strategy. Airbus has been on a steadfast journey to augment its cybersecurity prowess, safeguarding its operations, products, customers, and the wider ecosystem it operates within, including high-profile projects like the Future Combat Air System (FCAS).

INFODAS, boasting a workforce of approximately 250 employees and generating annual revenues in the ballpark of €50m, operates beyond its Cologne headquarters with offices spread across Berlin, Bonn, Hamburg, Munich, and Mainz in Germany. The company is recognised by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) as a certified IT security service provider, offering a wide range of services including information system auditing, consulting, and penetration testing. INFODAS’ flagship SDoT Security Gateway product family, approved for use up to the “secret” classification level, is a testament to the company’s commitment to cybersecurity excellence, further validated by its adherence to Common Criteria and possession of various country-specific certifications.

This acquisition underscores Airbus Defence and Space’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity measures, a move that resonates with the increasing importance of digital safeguarding in today’s interconnected and digitally reliant world.
