Snyk has acquired Probely, a cutting-edge Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) provider from Porto, Portugal.
Known for its robust API security testing and web applications, Probely also offers Security Headers, a widely-used tool that helps users assess and enhance their web properties’ security.
The acquisition underscores the growing necessity of API security testing, pivotal in the era of Large Language Model (LLM) powered applications. Snyk now boasts a comprehensive range of development and application security solutions, immediately enriching its customers’ testing options in a developer-friendly format.
The strategic acquisition serves to bolster Snyk’s offerings in the increasingly essential field of application security. “For global security leaders seeking to further accelerate trusted AI adoption, adding Probely’s technology and expertise further extends the breadth and depth of Snyk’s platform,” Peter McKay, CEO of Snyk, explained. This merger enhances Snyk’s market position by promoting a developer-first approach, which effectively marries rapid innovation with stringent security measures.
Snyk is renowned for its Developer Security Platform that integrates security elements directly into the development process, enabling organizations to fix vulnerabilities within their operational workflows. Meanwhile, Probely specializes in dynamic testing of APIs and web applications, offering tools that are designed to minimize false positives and ease the security testing process for developers.
This acquisition not only expands the capabilities of Snyk’s platform but also emphasizes the shared vision of Snyk and Probely—a commitment to empowering developers with secure programming tools. By merging Probely’s tools with Snyk’s existing services, enterprises can adopt a more robust defense-in-depth strategy for application security.
Snyk’s solutions also encompass Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Software Composition Analysis (SCA), and various other security technologies. Over time, Probely’s capabilities will be integrated into Snyk’s platform, providing a seamless experience across all phases of the software development life cycle.
Nuno Loureiro, CEO & Co-Founder of Probely, shared, “Like Snyk, from day one, Probely has been laser-focused on empowering developers to build securely.” Héctor Guillermo Martínez, President of GM Sectec, also commented on the acquisition: “We ensure the payment security of global organizations, including critical compliance needs like PCI-DSS, and as such welcome Snyk and Probely joining forces.”
