Aembit fortifies Series seed with Okta Ventures' financial boost

Founded as a Workload Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution, Aembit, has solidified its position in the market through a strategic investment secured from Okta Ventures.

This Maryland-based company provides a platform that enables DevOps and security teams to effortlessly discover, manage, enforce, and audit access between workloads.

The latest financial influx comes from Okta Ventures, extending Aembit’s previously announced seed funding, which was led by Ballistic Ventures and Ten Eleven Ventures. This partnership not only amplifies Aembit’s financial prowess but also provides a springboard for technical integration and a joint go-to-market strategy.

Aembit’s main objective is to help companies better manage workload-to-workload access in an increasingly distributed application environment. With a rapidly expanding digital landscape comprising of enterprise-developed software, databases, cloud APIs, and partner and customer APIs, Aembit provides an elegant solution to manage workload identities and their access rights.

The newfound funding will be strategically directed towards pioneering the first SaaS service for Workload Identity and Access Management (IAM). Aembit plans to revolutionise how DevOps identifies workloads and define policies determining their access rights. By eliminating static workload identity secrets and alleviating the need for developers to code workload-to-workload auth, Aembit aims to make it easier for DevOps to centralise visibility and control.

Additional details revealed about the investment entail a mutual goal shared by Okta and Aembit. They are focused on taking an identity-first view of the world and consider modern identity and access management a fundamental capability for businesses to secure their data and their customers.

Aembit CEO and co-founder David Goldschlag said, “I firmly believe that we’re in the age of identity, and it’s creating a significant change in how applications are built and secured. Just like IAM hardens access for users and allows security-minded professionals to be more strategic about their posture, Workload IAM allows security, DevOps, and development teams to accelerate growth and innovation while more easily managing the risk in distributed applications. We are excited to be partnering with Okta Ventures to bring Aembit’s Workload IAM approach to the enterprise.”

Likewise, Austin Arensberg, senior director from Okta Ventures, echoed similar sentiments. “Workload Identity is the next frontier in that challenge, and we look forward to jointly securing all the identities that a business deals with across its organisation.”

This new investment follows the initial seed funding Aembit secured from Ballistic Ventures and Ten Eleven Ventures. The exact sum, however, remains undisclosed.
