South Korea unveils new ESG information platform

South Korea’s Financial Services Commission and the Korea Exchange have launched an integrated ESG information platform.

According to the FSC, the platform will provide a ‘convenient one-stop information service on ESG-related information of listed companies for investors and the general public’.

The platform will provide background information on the significance of ESG management and key regulatory trends. It will also offer information about the listed firms’ ESG activities, ratings and sustainability reports as well as statistical information on ESG investment trends and other educational materials.

As the platform provides a wide range of ESG-related data originating from a vast range of sources, companies and institutions – users will be able to access and utilise data tailored to their specific needs.

The FSC added that authorities expect that the ESG information platform will function as a key hub for ESG-related data and will help raise overall awareness on the importance of the ESG movement.

The Commission also remarked that itself at the KRX will continue to work on improving the platform to help bolster user convenience and expand the kinds of ESG data made available through the platform.
