Signifyd opens new headquarters and R&D centre in UK

Online fraud protection company Signifyd has opened its new European headquarters in London and a R&D centre in Belfast.

The decision to launch in these locations came from the fast-paced growth of European customers, and to support its European expansion plans. Signifyd’s new European headquarters in London will serve the EMEA market and will be led by Ed Whitehead.

Order value in Europe has increased four-times over the past two years, and its customer-base has doubled to over 500 retailers of varying sizes.

Signifyd’s Belfast Labs will act as a driver of innovation for the company’s global operations, and also serve as an incubator for e-commerce solutions which will help retailers remove friction from buying experiences. Trevor McCullough will be the director of engineering at the lab.

California-headquartered Signifyd provides automated fraud protection services for the e-commerce space. Its technology integrates with existing fulfilment systems via an API or can be used through an online platform in order to automate back-office processes. The platform can automatically fulfil orders, cancel orders, complete payouts and chargeback fees, and handle claims.

Its machine learning algorithms, proprietary behaviour technology and advanced data science research helps more than 10,000 retailers protect from fraudulent attacks.

Signifyd managing director for Europe Ed Whitehead said, “This is an exciting day for Signifyd, but more importantly, it’s an exciting day for online merchants operating in Europe. Guaranteed fraud protection has captured the mainstream market. But we know that retailers in different parts of the world face different challenges and have different priorities.”

Earlier in the year, the company closed a $100m Series D to support the its growth and global expansion efforts. The round was led by Premji Invest, with participation also coming from Bain Capital Ventures, Menlo Ventures and American Express Ventures, among others.
