Orca Security receives $6.5m in seed funding

Orca Security, an Israel-based cloud visibility platform, has received $6.5m in its seed funding round.

YL Ventures, a cybersecurity -focused investor, led the investment.

The cybersecurity platform offers enterprises a platform for visibility into their entire cloud footprint. The platform offers a single integration within the cloud infrastructure which automatically assesses the state of security of every discovered asset on the cloud.

Leveraging the technology, an enterprise can detect vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, breaches malware and compromised assets on their cloud accounts, and tools to solve the issues.

The security platform is currently in limited availability, but a full launch of its services is set for later in the year.

YL Ventures advisor Justin Somaini said, “Gaining visibility into the makeup and state of cloud environments is today’s biggest security challenge. Even with significant investment and expertise, apps, assets and infrastructure in the cloud remain opaque; and scanners and agents just can’t scale technically or operationally in the cloud first world we are now in.

“Solutions like Orca’s that offer comprehensive in-depth visibility with no integration headaches are exactly what’s needed to empower teams to secure and scale the high velocity growth of cloud deployments.”

YL Ventures has backed a handful of cybersecurity companies this year. Most recently, the firm led the $5.4m seed funding round of cyberthreat response solution Hunters.AI. Its autonomous technology exposes unseen traces left behind by attackers to detect, identify and remediate cyberattacks, whether it’s on their cloud, hybrid or enterprise environments.
