New Mountain sells ACA Compliance to Starr Investments

New Mountain Capital has agreed to sell ACA Compliance Group, a provider of risk management and technology solutions for the financial services industry.

The private equity firm has sold the business to Starr Investment Holdings, just four years after it reached a deal to acquire the majority control of ACA.

Founded in 2002 by former SEC examiners and a state regulator, ACA Compliance Group is a provider of solutions that focus on regulatory compliance, performance, financial crime, and cybersecurity. The company claims to ‘position its clients for success’ by partnering with them to mitigate their regulatory, operational, cybersecurity and reputational risks.

It serves investment advisers, private fund managers, commodity trading advisors, investment companies and broker-dealers, including 81 of the top 100 hedge fund managers, 68 of the world’s top 100 private equity firms, and 76 of the top 100 U.S. money managers.

ACA’s global compliance staff includes former SEC, FINRA, FSA, NFA, and state inspectors, along with former senior compliance managers from financial services firms.

Its team works with CTOs, COOs, and CCOs to improve security infrastructures, provide advisory services, and conduct cybersecurity reviews. While its AML and financial crime specialists work with banks and large institutions to provide advisory and technology services. The company’s solutions also include mission-critical financial software products and services, as well as a variety of educational opportunities to keep staff informed on regulatory initiatives, GIPS standards, cybersecurity, and industry topics.
